Inca Trail
INCA TRAIL 3 NIGHTS / 4 DAYS
Destinos Turisticos is one of the operators in Cuzco who has been authorized by the Peruvian government to organize this world famous trail. Please book this tour well in advance. The Peruvian government only allows in total 500 people a day on the trail and this includes porters and guides. To avoid disappointments we recommend to book at least 4 months in advance during the high season (June-September) and 3 months for the rest of the year. The inca trail is not open during the month of February
DAY 1: We leave Cusco by bus at about 6.30 am and drive to Urubamba where we will follow the Urubamba River as far as Chilca (km82) Here we will start walking accompanied by a professional guide and porters. After about 6 or 7 hours of mainly going uphill we will get to the small settlement of Huayllabamba where we will spend the first night.
DAY 2: Today we will be walking for about 8 hours climbing up to “the dead woman´s” pass at 4200 meters and than descending into the Pacumayo valley with its beautiful views of snow peaked mountains where we will spend the second night at about 3600 meters.
DAY 3: Today we walk for another 8 or 9 hours to the ruins of Winaywayna. On route we pass several minor inca sites like Sayacmarka and Phuyupatamarka. We spend this last night at Winaywayna the last campsite before getting to Machu Picchu which is only 2 hours away.
DAY 4: Early start for a 1 hour walk to Intipunku also known as the Sungate. From here we get the first views of Machu Picchu. After spending some time her and be able to take plenty of pictures we continue for another hour to the actual ruins of Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour of about 2 hours.
The Expedition express train leaves at about 17.00 and will take us back to Cuzco where we arrive at about 21.20
INCA TRAIL KM 104: 1 night / 2 days
Walking part of the the Inca trail in one day spending the night in Aguas Calientes (shorter version).

The rules are the same as for the proper Inca trail. The Peruvian government only allows in total 500 people a day on the trail and this includes porters and guides. To avoid disappointments we recommend to book at least 4 months in advance during the high season (June-September) and 3 months for the rest of the year. The inca trail is not open during the month of February.
DAY 1: You will be picked up from your hotel at 6.00 am to catch the Expedition Express to km 104 where you arrive at about 10.45 am. From here it is about a 3 to 4 hours walk uphill to the ruins of Winawayna. Box lunch at the ruins. From here it is about another 2 hours walking to Machu Picchu where you will be arriving at the end of the afternoon. Halfway the last part of this walk you will have splendid views over Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate.
Finally you take a bus down from the ruins to the village of Aguas Callientes where you will spend the night in a hostel of your choice.
DAG 2: Next morning early breakfast and bus back up to the ruins. Guided tour around the ruins of Machu Picchu of about 2 hours. Free time to explore the ruins and at 17.00 hrs the Expedition express back to Cusco.
