TOUR 02 : THE INCAS
OF PERU AND THE AMAZON
(PRICE BASED ON 2 PERSONS
SHARING A DOUBLE ROOM)
This tour of eight days
takes you to the Inca heartland and the Amazon jungle. It is a good
introduction to the Inca culture and what is life in the jungle
about. This tour is very suitable for those people who want to combine
Inca highlights in the Cuzco area and want to take advantage of
the fact that they are very near the Amazon jungle.
DAY 01:
Arriving in Lima. You will be picked up from the airport and taken
to the 3 star hotel Santa Cruz in Miraflores. Rest of the day free.
DAY 02:
In the morning you'll be picked up from the hotel and taken back
to the airport for the one hour flight to Cuzco. Upon arriving in
Cuzco you'll be transferred to the hotel Cusco Plaza.
In the afternoon there is a city tour which last for about three
and a half hours and you will visit the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuaman,
Quenqo, Pukipucara and Tambomachay. It also includes the temple
of the sun (Qoricancha) and the cathedral. To enter all this sites
and lots of other sites in the city you need a tourist ticket (BTC)
which comes included in the price.
DAY 03:
Excursion to the Sacred Valley. This visit last all day and is only
done on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. You visit the small market
town of Pisaq, the ruins of Ollantaytambo and the small community
of Chincheros. Lunch included in a restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
DAY 04:
A visit to Machu Picchu:This excursion last all day. You will be
collected from the hotel and transferred to the train station. The
comfortable tourist train will take you to the small town of Aquas
Calientes from where busses leave to the ruins (+/- 20 min). A guided
tour through the ruins of about two and a half hours followed with
an opportunity for lunch (not included). Some more time to explore
the ruins and then back by bus and train to Cuzco where you will
be transferred to your hotel.
DAY 05:
Transfer to the airport to catch the 30 minute flight from Cuzco
to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival you will be taken to the port
where you will take a motorized boat to the lodge. The lodge is
about 40 km away from town and the boat journey takes about 2 hours.
By the time we arrive it will be time for lunch. After a short rest
we do a short walk in the nearby jungle where it is easy to spot
monkeys. Dinner and early night.
DAY 06:
Early breakfast and walk through the jungle. There are 2 options.
For those ones who want a real hike there is the possibility to
go to Cocha Perdida. All together you will be walking for about
7 hours but only 30 minutes away is the equally beautiful lake Apu
Victor. On both lakes there are plenty of opportunities to see birds.
It is most likely you will spot parakeets, parrots, toucans, horn
screamers, herons and fly catchers but many other kind of birds
are around.
After lunch we have a short rest and late afternoon we go out in
a boat to visit a local family and watch the sunset.
DAY 07:
Breakfast and return by boat to Puerto Maldonado to catch your flight
to Lima. Upon arrival you will be taken to the hotel Santa Cruz.
DAY 08:
Transfer from Hotel Santa Cruz to Lima Airport for your international
flight out of Peru.
