DAY
01 transfer by bus Cuzco - Mollepata – Cruzcasa
Start of the hike in the village Mollepata at 2850m. You walk through
a nice valley slowly going up until you reach the campsite in Cruzcasa.
On your way , if the weather is clear , you can see parts of the
mountains Humantay and Salkantay.
DAY
02 From Cruzcasa
You continue up until Soraypampa and then Pampa Japonesa.Here you
camp in the wide valley.
DAY 03
You start the climb to the pass, wich takes about 4 hours to reach
at 4510m . If you are lucky, you will see the snow and ice very
close.Then all walking down to the possible camp in Wayracmachay
(after 2 hours) or Sayampata where you already are close to the
tropical vegetation.
DAY
04 From the camp down to the village of Colpapampa
will take about 2 or 3 hours. This is a small village where most
people only work in growing potatoes .A little further down there
is a hot spring, so take a bath!!!!!!!Your campsite is still lower,
it can be the site called Micabamba or nearby.
DAY 05 Still walking
down , greener and greener the vegetation , you reach Santa Teresa
at 1500m , a village which was almost destroyed ina mudslide in
1998.From here you can go back to Cuzco by bus,in wich you arrive
in Cuzco the next day or.
DAY
06 Still a bit walking to reach the valley near
Machu Picchu (wich you might visit , then you have an other overnight
stay) and return by train.
